Thank you for soothing my weary heart.

I can't thank y'all enough
for your kind words after
the tragic events that
took place near my home the other day.

The neighborhood is eerily calm.
As I step outside,
I'll here the birds chirp
or watch the wind blow gently through the trees.
It feels so surreal to feel so
safe and sound after the violence that erupted.

Details have emerged that it was
the woman's brother that shot and killed
the new young mom.
He also shot his mother and his sister.
They both survived.
The suspect has a mental illness.
He survived and is being charged with murder.

I did not know this family
but they have lived in the neighborhood for 20 years.
We are all hurting over their loss.

We have all placed white ribbons
on our mailboxes so that when
the family drives home from the hospital
they will know that they have our silent support.

I placed it with love this morning.
Perhaps it is one step towards healing.

For those of you who let me know
how badly you were hurting for the newborn baby.
I will leave you with this comforting photo
taken from by our local paper.

She is safe and sound in her Daddy's arms.

Thank you for your support and prayers.

Please scroll down for some comic relief
and Freakshow Friday.

Thanks for the follow up. It is terrible what happened, but nice to know the baby is with father. And how lovely of you all to put up the white ribbons to show your support.

My heart goes out to the survivors, especially the Dad, and your community. The white ribbons are a nice way of showing support without disturbing the family.

Oh, I just cannot imagine the pain that newborn's father must be facing.

Especially in light of any assumptions people may have had that it was he who did it, before they knew it was really the young mom's brother who was the shooter.

I pray that family finds some peace in the midst of this horrible tragedy.

Even so, come Lord Jesus.

It still makes me so sad, for that baby to not ever know her mamma, but I am glad that she will be taken care of!

Your experience is a powerful reminder that we're right in the thick of life, all the time. And part of that is tragedy.

But so much of it is joy. I hope joy returns to your neighborhood in abundance. And to that sad dad and his sweet baby, too.

=)
