The topic the week at You Capture was get outside.
The other afternoon when I was at my parents' house
I saw the most amazing spider web glistening in the sun.
I swear, it looked like Charlotte's web from far away.
When I went to admire it, I saw a terrifying spider waiting to eat me.
I risked life and limb and squirmed and prayed
to God that it wouldn't jump onto me while I tried to photograph it.

Doesn't she look like she just scurried
out of a Tim Burton movie?

Believe it or not that particular type of spider is what Charlotte was based around. They are called Writing spiders for the way they reinforce their webs with unique designs. They can get bigger then that and they LOVE flower beds. Ihave one outside right now that is about half the size of my hand. That one is probably a female cause she is muted colors. The males are this BRIGHT yellow and sometimes streaks of orange in them
Salutations!
Love this shot. She is amazing. I love to see spiders on a web outside, but I have a slight phobia of them when they are in my house!
Love this shot. Wish I could get great pics!
Oh, you are a brave one!
And your reward?
An amazing photo...
=)
that picture scares me, even though it's breathtaking.
WOW, great photo! I definitely would have been too scared to get that close.
I love Tim Burton movies! This spider truly looks like it was created by the Master of All Things Creepy.
I cannot get this image out of my head, that and the one you did yesterday of the first autumn leaf (autumn coming in, spiders getting ready to lay their eggs (or eat their prey) - Halloween a knocking at the door soon! It is really quite something.
I almost walked face-first into a Writing Spider's web once, and I almost lost my damn mind. I was convinced that it was some sort of exotic spider that had escaped from some crate full of exotic spiders from a far-away place. When I dragged my husband to see it, he said, "Oh. Writing spider. They're all over down here."
*shudder*
From this arachnophile to a courageous arachnophobe. Thanks for screwing up your courage and nailing down this picture, Leigh. She is gorgeous.
Great picture. I Have a picture of the same exact spider on my blog this week only mine was on steroids. LOL
Oh my gosh, what an amazing picture! oh, kinda creeps me out too ;-)
that is SO crazy that you posted this picture today, because just this morning, I took a picture of a huge spider that is living at the top of the wreath on our front door. Lucky for me, I was able to take the picture from the inside of the door... so no worries of it jumping on me. The picture you took was incredible.
Ugh- I woke up with spider bites the other day so spent the day cleaning all the bedding and shaking out pillows and flipping the mattress, etc. Annoying little buggers.

Ew. and also? Beautiful! Excellent capture! Thank you for taking risks for such a wonderful photo! ;)
Cool spider photo. I'd have smashed it with my shoe before the click could go off on my camera.

Beautiful spider and great picture!
That is the coolest spider ever! And I just want to thank you for risking your life to capture it for us : ) How lucky are we? : )
Thanks for reminding me to get a picture of a web. That is one of those things I have been wanting to capture all summer but I keep forgetting! : )
This spider is impressive.
I love pictures of spider webs... I love pics of bugs despite the ick factor . Great shot :)
