Dove Self-Esteem Weekend

I am proud to be a part of the movement in support of Dove Self-Esteem Weekend.
Dove asked me to inspire the next generation of women
by sharing what I wished I'd known at 13 years old.

So, to really get into the spirit of this, let's just take a look
at little ol' me all dressed up for a school dance
at the ripe age of 13.

I look at this young girl and I wish that I had known
to slow down and not be in such a hurry to grow up.
That being 13 is such a gift and that
you will be a woman for the rest of your life.
Enjoy being a girl for a little bit longer.
Hold onto that spark that makes you feel special
before the world convinces you that you are not.
You will always be wonderful
but life can be so sweet when you are 13
and you let yourself see the wonder that lives in you.

For more information on how you can join the movement
and get involved visit
Dove's Movement for Self Esteem.
There you will find tools to help
you make a difference in a young girl's life.

Oh...and watch this amazing video,
I just love the message that this movement is sending
to young girls!!!

You are pretty as a picture in that photo, goodness I would have been so jealous of how good you look. At 13 was not a great age for me, it was around that time I had my operation for scoliosis, and I most definitely was not pretty at all!

I love the Dove campaign. This is something that I would love to be involved in (even though I don't have daughters of my own.) And wow, I sure didn't look that nice when I was 13.

Dove is sending a really great message. It's so easy for people to grow up too fast in our society. Thanks for sharing :)

I LOVE this campaign. Isn't it amazing the pressure the world puts on girls and women? Here's a story for you: I went into jcrew yesterday and couldn't fit into their largest size of pants (the largest they had in the whole store), which was a size 10. The average woman in this country wears a 12-14. What's up with that JCrew? I left the store and went home mad, thinking about that and the message that sends young girls and women. The store clerk suggested I shop at Old Navy, which made me even more pissed.
