52 Weeks of Happiness :: Week 18

Photobucket

Celebrating the 4th of July
with family and friends.

Photobucket

Visiting the huge tent that
sells fireworks is always so exciting.

I love imagining the spectacle
that each potential firework
could ignite.

I almost feel like I'm doing something wrong
when I buy fireworks

because they were illegal
when I lived in Texas as a child.

It makes me feel like a rebel.

Photobucket

Eating ice cream sundaes
at Nana and Poppy's house
is the sweetest part.

Photobucket

Gathering at a dear friend's home to shoot of fireworks
on a summer evening is so much fun.
Even if we shoot them while it's still light out,
the kids still get a real thrill out of it.

Photobucket

Of course, one of us preferred to watch
them from inside the living room window
where the popping wasn't quite as loud.

Such a sweet memory
of life with a two year old.

Photobucket

I always feel deeply satisfied
when I see the carnage at the end
of the fireworks show.

I have so many wonderful memories of shooting fireworks with my family, particularly my papaw. This time of year I really miss those days, but look forward to next year when my little one will be old enough to begin enjoying them.

I love fireworks... we set off some fireworks in our neighbourhood this weekend as well, to celebrate Canada Day!

I love fireworks. My son still thinks they are too loud though.

Love the picture of the little one enjoying the fireworks through the window! Also, that ice cream sundae looks yummy! What a lovely way to celebrate independence day!

Living in the country we are surrounded by the fireworks display. Our neighbor puts off BIG ones ( commercial grade) every year so we have a show in our own backyard. Plus we went to the next county's celebration.. I love the sundae pic.. and lil one in the window...

What a great series of photos. My sons, 30 and 27, still love lighting the fireworks at our family gathering. :)

We were able to buy fireworks when I was little, but the state I live in now doesn't allow them. I miss them.

I think those home firework shows are the best!

Fireworks are banned in or county until fire restrictions are lifted. We went to a fourth party last night and the police officers showed up because the kids had SPARKLERS!

O well, the city still put on the Big display. Very fun for the children; I was happy to see their excitement. Me? I would have been happy staying out on the ranch watching the lightning.

WOW! Y'all had a lot of fireworks. I love it!

We can't set them off where we live, but the city puts on an incredible show each year.
