I need a fashion epidural

With the arrival of fall I decided to go through my closet and pull out my warmer clothes. As I rummaged through the hangers I quickly came to a depressing realization. I was pregnant this time last year and everything hanging in my closet was either maternity or loose fitting.

To make matters worse, I had lost 40 pounds right before I got pregnant. That means that I had thrown away all of my "fat clothes" and vowed to never need clothes that large again. This has left me with a closet full of crap that I cannot wear now. I decided to make an effort to put some of these clothes to good use. I bravely tried on some of the clothes that were not from Motherhood Maternity but were still rather large.

As I stood in front of the mirror I wanted an epidural. Memories came flooding back of me being 38 weeks pregnant and damning every article of clothing that I could squeeze my fat butt into. I just could not allow myself to wear them post baby.

I needed to go shopping.

I decided to look to my favorite store Anthropologie for inspiration. Of course, I can't afford their lovely frocks these days but that can't stop a girl from dreaming. I scoured their catalogue and found the perfect look for this fall. I'll call it the leggings/tunic/cardigan/boots combo.

Here are a few examples...

I've decided that this is the perfect look for a lazy lady with a post baby belly. So, I went to our pathetic little mall here in town and bought up every possible element that I could find to make me look like those models. Of course, I look a bit stumpier and chunkier but the spirit of the outfit is the same. I even found these great boots...

So, now I will look ever so stylish as I tool around town. The only places I ever really go to are to drop my son off at school and to the grocery store. Every now and then I might go out to lunch. I know that I will just dazzle everyone as I glide through the produce section at Kroger in my new ensembles. The other moms at Athens Montessori School will covet my cool new boots.

I'll simply slap on some black eyeliner and smear nude lip gloss onto my lips. Then, I'll buckle my new boots with pride and be well on my way to being one fabulous mama.

Thanks Leigh! I needed that secret formula for fabulous. I have been a little, ahem, less than fabulous lately.

Cute boots, btw.

This story brings back memories. You will definitely be the hottest ticket struttin' through the frozen foods section.

Just discovered you over at SITS.

Wait a moment...I dress like this everyday! It's fashionable to layer clothes, and it's so comfortable too.
I would be totally lost without my skinny jeans and boots. They are just so very versatile, and no worries about what to wear in the mornings. I love to just layer clothes up, and has been fashionable for a couple of Autumn now!
So, you can still be a stylish chic chick!

Hi I'm trying to visit all the other people who got awards from SFTC and also the people who gave them. I'm stuggling right now because I'm right between my fat clothes and my skinney clothes. I refuse to buy anymore! ugh!
I'll be following...

I'm so there with ya! 5 months post baby, I don't fit in my skinny clothes and my maternity clothes slide down my hips. I really don't want to go shopping, but unless I can miraculously lose about 30 pounds in a week, I'm gonna have to! It's still pretty hot where I live, so I can't pull of the fall tunic look yet...but I'm anxiously waiting.
