I'm realizing that my days around here seem to run together.
Ordinary moments unfold around me daily
and I need to stop and relish in them.
One day, my boys will be out living life
and I will miss these everyday experiences.
So, I am taking the time to document
the simple moments that pass between us.
I'm calling this little collection of memories...
I made a little library for Koen in his room.
I used a child's size table that we gave him for Christmas that had been
in the living room for use during snack time.
I'll be honest with you, the table is plastic and super light
so a few times a day Koen will just flip the table over
or grab the chairs and throw them across the room.
I swear, it's like he's part of the toddler Mafia.
Anyway, I grew tired of picking it up and scolding him.
I'm just assuming that he's not quite old enough for it yet.
So, I moved it to his room next to a little bookcase
to move it out of the way and in the process, accidentally made him a library.
Suddenly, he feels very dignified about the whole thing.
He actually sits at the table now to flip through books.
He loves his new library so much
and meanders into his room often to fetch a book.
The best part is that now I find him often
plopped down somewhere with a book in his lap.
The book may be upside down, but that doesn't matter,
he still thinks that he is reading.
I can see a love for books growing as he grows.
He'll grab Goodnight Moon
and say "Night night moon"
as he flips the pages.

That is such a sweet capture.
It doesn't matter that he can't read yet...it's the idea that books are important. We used to take our kids to the library before they were old enough to read, and now they are insatiable readers. Enjoy him every minute, they grow up fast!
He is such a dollbaby.. I used to read to my boys when they were little, I loved that time with them when it was just them and me. Jesse is still a reader. He can lock himself in his room and read all day.
We make sure all of the children's books we have are within easy reach. It's a wonderful thing to see them "read."
What a great idea! Kate loves books too, although part of it is that she just loves getting all of them out (she just turned one)

I love his little library. He is just too cute for words! I love the upside down shot. You are so awesome too to see the adorableness (is that a word?) in something like that too. He is learning the love of reading without all the weird pressure that is around us these days (have you seen those "teach your baby to read commercials?"
