Christmas Came Early

So, as you know,
we built our dream backyard
but there was only one problem.

The stairs leading up to the play area
were these crazy metal stairs with no railing
that were here when we bought the house years ago.

Let me just show you a few
things that were terrifying about these stairs.

Let's start with the fact that
they are all rusty and look
like a Tetanus shot waiting to happen.

Also take note that they are leaning
on cinder blocks that are
perched on top of a steep hill.

Did I mention that there were no railings?

I feared for our lives
every single time
we walked up and down
those rotten old steps.

My parents surprised us and sent
some nice men over to build
a new set of stairs for us
as an early Christmas gift.

I think that they feared for our lives as well.

Koen was in absolute heaven as he
watched the men build the stairs.
It was quite an event.

We decided to have another
ribbon cutting ceremony.

We had a cookie cake that said
"NEW STAIRS".
I hung up a banner that said
"Up We Go"
at the top of the steps.

Griffin did the honor of saying a few words.
"I hereby proclaim that these stairs are ready to be climbed!"
he said as he cut the ribbon.

Then we all took turns
running up and down the stairs.
We shouted and danced all over them.

Thanks so much Nana and Poppy
for making our backyard complete.
I'll remember this gift
while we open Christmas presents, I swear!

We love our new stairs!!!
