"I want to make dessert tomorrow!"
Griffin announced after dinner the other day.
He wanted to make a
strawberry cake
with chocolate icing
in the middle
and on top
with white icing
around the edge
and it would
have all of our names written on it.
Easy enough.
So, we did just that.

It turned out to be a hideous cake.
It didn't matter though
because we had so much fun baking it.
I really love playing in the kitchen
with my boys.
They love to measure the ingredients for me.
They fight over dumping all the junk into the bowl.
Oh...and somehow stirring the batter
is the funnest thing ever.

We surprised Daddy after dinner
with the cake.
"Here's a cake for no reason!"
Griffin announced proudly.
Sometimes just wanting to bake
is reason enough to turn on the oven.
Sometimes letting the children
lead in the kitchen is the best reward.
I'm discovering that there is freedom to be found
in making a really ugly cake.

To me...no reason cake is the most beautiful cake of all. And that you play with your kids...even more so.
Cake for no reason is awesome.
I've heard of Coca Cola Cake, Pineapple Upside Down Cake, but my new favorite name for a cake is the
"No Reason Cake". It could also become my new favorite trend! Thanks for sharing this little ray of happiness!
You have made me want some cake now, I think that cake looks fantastic, love the love that went into it, that is a special ingredient and turns the cake even more yummy!
I think that is the best cake cause it was made with the love and anticipation of a child.. I bet it tasted wonderful
I love "no reason" cake. That is fabulous. I need more more "no reason" desserts in my life.
It's so good for kids to bake with someone who loves them.
=)
No wonder that boy of yours has such lightness of being and joy. I love a cake with everyone's name on it!
