I Pledge Allegiance to Leigh vs. Laundry

Photobucket

I discovered a simple truth in 2011...whatever you choose to give your attention to will thrive. I decided sometime last year that my attention was needed in my home and in building up my writing chops with my weekly column over at Athens Patch. I quit responding to comments left on here on the ol' bliggidy blog. I quit stopping by to visit all the folks who left links for 52 Weeks of Happiness. I quit doing my daily visit of fellow blogs. I stripped my blogging life to down to the bare minimum, it needed to happen.

Well, my children have grown, my column has blossomed, my home somehow stayed messy, and this blog has coasted. The truth is, I miss y'all. I miss interacting with my fellow bloggers. I miss knowing what made you smile last week. I miss hearing about your children and reading about your life. I miss the readers that used to stop by that have moved on because I was not tending to this space.

So instead of making a New Year's Resolution, I am making a pledge to Leigh vs Laundry.

I pledge to respond to comments left on this blog.

I pledge to visit and comment on the people who participate in my happiness carnival.

I pledge to visit other blogs.

While I'm at it...

I pledge to break up with French fries.

I pledge to finally finish my novel.

I pledge to pick up a toy after I stub my toe on it
and not just yell bad words at it.

I pledge to walk on my treadmill instead of pile my laundry on top of it.

What is your pledge for 2012?

I love the idea of taking a "pledge" instead of making resolutions. Somehow sounds more effective, permanent - doable! You're off to a great start for 2012 with that pledge. Now, I need to find a little quiet corner and figure out my own pledge! Thanks.

Its hard finding time for EVERYTHING we would LIKE to have time for. The interesting thing about being able to TAKE some time to evaluate and look back is that we find a renewed sense of excitement for things that once may have weighed us down, added stress etc. Perspective is awesome! Like Linda above, I too like the idea of a Pledge...it feels like there is more wiggle room for forgiveness if I didn't quite make yesterday and no sense of doom that I can't make soar above it tomorrow. You rock! Pledge on wit yo bad self....

My pledge is to learn to be a more patient wife and mother, especially considering baby #3 is due in about 3 weeks.

I hear you. I should take the same pledges you have. Except I don't like to commit. : )

I'm staying away from resolutions this year...I just end up feeling frustrated and disappointed. That said, I'll be happy to see you around more!! I've missed your blog!

A pledge is a great idea! I am not a resolutions kinda gal, but I have been putting much thought into what direction I would like to see my life go.

Looking forward to seeing you around!

Sounds good. I have been wondering where you have been. It will be nice to have you back.

I love your pledges. I need to pledge the tread mill one too. But at least it is not covered in anything but dust.

I don't think a tater tot counts as a french fry in case you need that information sometime soon! Pledge sounds good...a bit more effort than just trying!

Love the pledge. I pledge to eat healthy and floss.

"Whatever you give your attention to will thrive"- pretty sure that is a new sign that I need to hang around here :) I actually admire bloggers that can cut it to a minimum- I seem to only be able to have my days. Good luck with whatever you choose to make thrive, hon!

I TOTALLY hear you on this one. I was in almost the exact same scenario as you this year--concentrating on other things and it needed to happen. My blog comments dwindle a little and I don't post as regularly.

I've personally found it harder to find the time now that my girls are in school--but like you it is something I really enjoy--the interaction--so I vow to be better in 2012 too! We'll keep each other straight! but I am NOT breaking up with french fries! ;)

Hiya Leigh! Great pledges, however... I'm pretty upset now that I know french fries have been cheating on me with you. Just for that... I'm breaking up with them as well, and GOOD riddance! :)
