Let go
By Leigh Hewett
I write this for no one
not even me anymore
but more a method of
clearing my head.
I remember so much
so many places escape
before I can go back
but not quick enough
to dodge the ache
of someone or something
that slipped away.
Like a belief
or a dependency
or an experience
that managed to dig in too far.
Growth demands
that I let these things go
or I'll slowly shrink
until eventually my shoes
fall off and I can't run away.
