Friday Night Dates :: 10

I'm inviting romance into my life
one Friday Night Date at a time
and documenting each one here on my little ol' blog.

I want to remember every detail
of these splendid home spun dates.

Date #10

The fact that Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman
were married in real life and madly in love
makes this film a real feast for the eyes.
Their on screen chemistry is so smoldering
that it's enough to make you feel hot and bothered.

The mango in the Shrimp Curry Tarts
combined with the hint of mint
in the Gentleman Johnson cocktail
made for delicious snuggles.

Here are the recipes...
Gentleman Johnson Cocktail

1. Ice
2. 2 ounces bourbon
3. 1/2 ounce Cointreau or other triple sec
4. 5 ounces unsweetened iced tea
5. 1 mint sprig
6. 1 lemon wedge

1. Fill a highball glass with ice. Add the bourbon, Cointreau and iced tea and stir. Garnish with the mint sprig and lemon wedge.

* 15 mini-phyllo pastry shells
* 2 1/2 tablespoons jarred mango chutney
* Toppings: chopped fresh chives, toasted sweetened flaked coconut

Preparation

* 1. Stir together first 6 ingredients. Spoon mixture into pastry shells. Spoon 1/2 tsp. mango chutney over each tart; sprinkle with desired toppings.

The Long Hot Summer is surely a movie classic. Movies seem to just come more alive if we much on food and drink "libations" (to use an old southern word) that extend the setting and themes into our own lives!
