52 Weeks of Happiness :: Week 14

Photobucket

The lazy days of summer.

I remember so vividly
the feeling of summer
from my childhood.

With no place to be
and nothing special planned,
the days seemed so open and free.

I love watching my children
soak in that awesome feeling

as Griffin says
"Ah...this is the life."

at least once a day.

Photobucket

The backyard is the perfect place

to pull out the hose and have some
fun in the cold cold water
in the heat of the day.

Photobucket

Particularly, Nana and Poppy's
backyard transforms so easily
into a water park and I think
that we will be found there often,
floating the day away
.

Photobucket

How could so much fun be waiting
in the shade of
the
tall Pine trees
that stand proudly
in their yard?

Ah...the freedom
of Summer!

I love the carefree-ness of summer. We still have a couple weeks of school left.

You don't have to travel far to have great fun!

Beautiful post...

Summer is definitely here, weather-wise, but we're still waiting for school to finish before "real" summer starts for us. :)

Love the happy pics! :)

That IS the life. Seems very rare these days that I have days with nothing on the agenda. But when they do happen, it's wonderful!

These photos really do remind me of my childhood. Summer didn't seem nearly as hot and much more fun then!

So much fun in one post! I love summer!

So true. I'm glad that your kids are able to enjoy it. Some of the kids around here are so scheduled up that they don't get an opportunity to just hang out in the back yard and be free to do whatever comes naturally.

=)

I love the pictures. Wish we could do that here. It has been cold and rainy.
I couldn't get the picture to work on my blog. But I did link up.

The freedom is exactly right!! We are similar in that regard that we give our children freedom to just be. Griffin is such a cool little guy--and yes--childhood IS really the life. But so is motherhood, really when we let ourselves play too.
LOVE all of these, Leigh and your take on parenthood. As always, excellent, excellent. :)

Cherish those moments as those days of innocent fun don't last. I can remember my boys having wonderful fun with their pool all those years ago.

I'm dying seeing everyone's pictures of fun in the sun and water! This is the weirdest June weather ever... I want me some sun!

Great pics! I love it when I hear my boy say, "Ah, it's good to be home," after we've been out and about.

they have those great big umbrella shade tents at Academy (Sports).

They cost about $69.00, are portable, have 55 UVA sun protection, can be handled by one person, and the KIDS love it!

PS. They work well at the beach, too. I'd get an anchor/cover (sold separately) to cover the little spiky thing that sticks into the ground.
