52 Weeks of Happiness :: Week 26

I bet I know what you're thinking...
"Great, another photo of Leigh's Gardenia bush."
I just can't help it, y'all.
My Gardenia bushes make me so happy
that I will celebrate the blooms over and over again.

One of the reasons that they make me so happy
is because I pretty much ignore them
until the beautiful flowers pop open
and suddenly my front yard smells dreamy.

By now, ya'll must be on a first name basis
with my lovely Miss Huff's Lantana.
I know that I've rambled on and on about them
and even wrote a poem declaring my love for them.

These tough ladies don't need my help at all.
I just adore that I walk past this bush every single day
and then one sunny morning
when I step out on my porch, the flowers say
"Good morning and how do you do?"

Pure happiness!

You see, I have a black thumb.
I even managed to kill a cactus once,
and they are pretty tough to kill.

So, I celebrate the flowers in my life
that show up despite the fact
that I don't do one thing to keep them alive.

Like the Rose bush on my back deck that
I can see it through my kitchen window
while I load the dishwasher.

The dainty flowers are actually pretty bawdy
and almost defiantly bloom above their thorns.

I love the flowers
that love me
even though
I only love them
when they show up.

Right now,
all three of these bushes are in bloom
and I feel like old friends have stopped by for a visit
even though I haven't called them in a year.

We have an unconditional love
