The King.
My SITS day was SO much fun.
Thanks so much for making it special.
To celebrate,
I drank copious amounts of Vodka drinks
and heckled an Elvis impersonator.
Life is good!

My day in the sun!
Well...you might as well
butter my butt and call me a biscuit.
I am the Featured Blogger over at SITS today!
If you don't know what SITS is then you
should just go ahead and click on that button down there
and say hello to a new day.
Welcome to my humble Blog.
I'm Leigh, a Stay at Home Mom to
a scampy little 5 year old boy
and a scrappy 10 month old baby boy.
I'm also married to a man
who makes me laugh all of the time.
My 7th grade creative writing teacher once said
"Write about what you know."
That's what I tend to do around here.
I find pleasure in the simple moments in life
Moments like...
clumsily adjusting to having two kids or
my son being hilarious or
little rituals that take place in my home
I also love being creative and
devising little projects on my Blog
to keep my brain busy.
I am on Day 26 of a photo project I'm currently doing
where I post one photograph everyday
of something in my life that makes me happy.
Please check out my
28 Days of Happiness.
Okay...there ya have it.
Well, while I have you here and
we've come this far
I might as well let you read
this article
that I wrote that was recently published.
Geez...I think that I've milked this SITS thing for as long as I possibly can.
If you want to see how things normally look around here
then scroll on down and read the next two posts.
Friday is a busy day around here
with my ongoing photo project
and Freakshow Friday.
It's business as usual over at
Leigh vs Laundry.
Thanks for stopping by.
*yes...that is a drawing of me offering you butter to smear on my butt as I stand on a huge biscuit.
Illustrated by my best friend's super talented husband Matt.

Winner: Bye bye birdy edition
We have a winner for the latest installment of Freakshow Friday. Please take note that my super freaky and non-biased best friend was the judge yet again. Here are the top three in no particular order.
Hey y'all, watch this: the knife doubles
as a toothbrush and the parrot doubles as supper!
Much More Than Mommy
"It's dinner time!"
Cathy
Bobbie Sue and JimJim were told
to bring a strap on and a gerbil to the party.
This was the best they could do.

I should tell y'all that at this point in the judging process our judge actually said "Oh, I get it now, like they are gonna eat the bird for dinner! I thought that they meant that some random person was calling them to dinner" At which point, I started laughing at her uncontrollably for being such a genius and that made her laugh which made me laugh and then I snorted twice from laughing so hard and we were both in tears. I can accept the possibility that you might have had to have been there to find this as hysterical as I did.

VIP status feels great even if they are giving it out to anybody.
The ever so lovely JennyMac ( a fellow Georgia based Blogger whom I adore) forwarded an invitation to me for Planet Shark Blogger Day at the Georgia Aquarium. That's right, Bloggers were offered free admission to the Georgia Aquarium to visit the new exhibition. I thought, why not, I'm a Blogger and Griffin always has a great time at the Aquarium. So, off we went to have a fun filled day of free entertainment. Hoo rah!
We hit all of the hot spots that a 5 year old boy would want to see as we let him map out our visit. First we visited the Otters who were so cute that I wanted to take one home with me in my diaper bag. Then, it was off to marvel at the Whale Shark over in the Ocean Voyager area. We freaked out when we saw "Dori fish" in the Tropical Diver tanks. The Georgia Aquarium really is a magical place for kids. Griffin always has an innocent and wide eyed look on his face the entire time. It makes it so worth having to elbow our way into each exhibit, trying our best to not start any fights with the growing crowds. You really have to claim your spot when at the Aquarium but you must do it with a pleasant smile.
Anyway, we decided to check out the Planet Shark exhibit. I knew from a press release that was e-mailed to me that each of Planet Shark: Predator or Prey’s multiple galleries is a chapter in the story of this remarkable animal and mankind’s fascination with it. Often maligned as a mindless killer, the exhibition will provide intriguing insight into shark behavior, explore the interesting connection between humans and sharks, and expose the real threat of extinction that certain shark species are facing. (Okay, I admit that I just cut and pasted that last bit from the press release but they said it SO much better than I could have).
The e-mail also warned "Mommy Bloggers" that the content of the exhibit may be frightening to children. Griffin told us that he REALLY wanted to go see it and that he swore up and down that he was feeling brave. So, in we all went into the mysterious galleries.

Griffin freaked his freak.
It was dark.
It was creepy.
It was about sharks and their sharp teeth.

Roger swooped up Griffin and breezed through the exhibit as I tried my hardest to engage him in the non scary stuff. The exhibits were very educational and had some amazing displays and as my two guys hurried through I found myself trailing behind them and shouting things like, "Oh lookie here, this is the jaw of a real shark! Isn't that cool?" In which Griffin would respond "Get me outta here Dad!" Needless to say, we got out of there pretty quickly.
I would defiantly go back to check it out without my child who was not quite as fearless as he thought he was. It seemed like a fascinating and well laid out exhibition. If I had been smart about it, I would have sent Roger and Griffin off to the amazing play structure over at Georgia Explorer area and I would have gone through it alone.
In the end, Griffin left with an Otter stuffed animal and before he passed out in the backseat on the drive home he announced "Today was the best day ever!" He was so right, despite the fact that we ran out of the Shark Exhibit, we had a great day at the Georgia Aquarium.

Collecting rocks
Griffin collects rocks. Sometimes he throws them into the woods. Other times, he lines them up on our porch railing.
The most special rocks find a home on a log in our front yard.
I love his little collection.

Update on Griffin
Griffin did smashingly well yesterday. I was a nervous wreck but things went very smoothly. He woke up confused and sad but I snuggled up in bed with him in the recovery room and romanced him with a red Popsicle. We're home and he's doing great! The fact that he's drinking down Lortab like it's Kool Aid is helping, I'm sure.
