It's such a great real life educational experience.

52 Weeks of Happiness :: Week 35

This awesome independent book store in Athens

throws all kinds of great local events.

I had yet to make it over there but was so excited

when I meandered that way on Sunday.

 

They hosted "Beyond the Screens",

a gathering for bloggers in my sleepy little college town.

I didn't have time to make business cards

so I threw together these DIY clothes pin fridge magnets

to hand out to my fellow bloggers.

They were a huge hit,

even though they looked like a 2nd grader made them.

I just loved the little pins that my new bloggy friend Alli made.

They were just so fancy and cute.

A pretty nice size crowd filled the joint 

and it was fun to meet my fellow bloggers.

I love being a part of such a great community, 

both online and in the real world.

PS Something is wonky with the Linky.

Scenes from Halloween

Oh Halloween was so much fun!

Griffin was a ninja.

Koen fused together two constumes

and was a super hero dinosaur.

Once we set out to trick-or-treat with friends,

the whole thing became a blur, literally.

I could hardly keep up them.

It was a blur of buckets full of candy,

running from house to house like a crazed maniac on a mission,

and tons of spooky houses that forced 

the kiddos to overcome their fears.

All for the love of candy.

Halloween is the best!

Urban Legend Stands the Test of Time

Let me brag about these cheesy spiders

It's my turn to bring snack for Koen's class

so I just couldn't resist throwing together a spooky treat for Halloween.

They were super duper easy to make.

Here's the instructions if you want to make some too...

Hands-On Time: 3 minutes
Ready In: 3 minutes
Yield: 1 serving
Ingredients

Mini Babybel cheese
4 small pretzel sticks
2 raisins

Directions

1. Unwrap a Mini Babybel cheese and take the wax off. Break 4 small pretzel sticks ("spider legs") in half and insert at an angle into the underside of the cheese, arranging 4 on each side. (For longer legs, use 8 whole pretzel sticks.) Add 2 raisins for eyes; use a pretzel to auger out eye holes.
