Mama Got a New Couch!

Roger and I were doing a little spring cleaning over the weekend.
We came to the conclusion that our couch was on it's last leg.

It was covered in 7 years worth of "kid mess" and looked
like it belonged in the dump.
So, on a whim, we took it to live in a new home...
the dump.

We didn't think it through,
we just tossed it.

Then, we were couch-less.

We pulled out all the chairs we had in the house.
It looked like the 4 bears lived in our home.

Then, we set out on a quest for a new couch.
Luckily, we found a great sale
and with a little help from my mama
(because your kids are never too old to need help from mama)
we found a glorious new couch.

It was delivered yesterday and Koen
was so excited to see a big delivery truck in our driveway.
He thinks that delivery guys are the coolest thing in the world.

It was quite an event.

DSC_0304-2

The guys were really sweet to Koen,
talking to him about their job
and even letting him help carry stuff in.

Our new couch is fanc-y!
It's really making our place look classy!
Mama is happy!

52 Weeks of Happiness :: Week 10

DSC_0307-2

Mother's Day was so dreamy for me.
I woke up to a beautiful bouquet on the dining room table.
What lady doesn't love getting flowers?

DSC_0310

We celebrated with my parents
and the site of gifts, gifts, and more gifts
was so exciting.

Let's see, inside those bags there was
a vintage table cloth, pink sunglasses, a necklace,
books, goodies, treasures, and knick knacks.

DSC_0311

My mama made my very favorite Rosy Pear Upside Down Cake.

It was splendid.

DSC_0330

The best gift was a sweet painting from Griffin.
I put it in a place of honor on our refrigerator.

Also, my dad offered to wash 2 loads of laundry for me.
You can't beat that!

I felt so very loved!

The elusive "me time"

It's been a tough week.
Griffin has been home from school
with an ear infection.
He hasn't been the kindest patient, if you know what I mean.

Koen is still adjusting to
no longer taking a nap.
He hasn't been the kindest no napper.

My patience has been worn thin.

So, I was thrilled when I
handed my little scamps off to my mom
so that I could go to a Dr. appointment.

DSC_0279

You would have thought that I was walking into a spa
when I approached the doors of the medical center.
It was quiet, no one was tugging at my skirt.
No one was calling anyone else a "stupid head".

DSC_0270

I was all alone in the waiting room.
It was blissful to read an old Health magazine in peace.
No one was begging me to get them a snack.
No one was fussing.
No little people that I am in charge of were on the floor wrestling.

DSC_0276

Without going into the boring details,
I hurt my back a while ago
and yesterday was my last day of physical therapy.

My back is strong and I'm feeling great.
I really enjoyed my very last deep tissue massage.

It really was like a day at the spa.
It's a sad state of affairs when you consider
a solo doctor appointment to be "me time".

DSC_0283-1

I even escaped and grabbed a bite to eat
all by myself.

I read a book.
I sipped on Pellegrino.

No one was hitting me on the head
with a pretend lightsaber.

It was awesome.

Misadventures in Homemaking and a little video

Okay, here is a little video of the first 20 minutes of my talk.
I forgot to format my memory card and it ran out of space.
I'm smooth, I know.

Anyhoos, I act like a big ol' dork
and use my hands like crazy.
It's kind of dark cause I had to cut the
front lights so that the projected images could be seen.

Other than that, I feel pretty good about it.
I thought that y'all might enjoy watching me in action.

Then, if you scroll down,
here are the materials to my talk
along with all the links to the posts
that I discussed.

I will put that fancy little button in my sidebar
and it will link to this post.

Okay....I'm done babbling about the awesome conference.
